After voting ends on General Voting Day, Saturday, October 17, 2026, at 8:00 p.m., election officials begin the final steps of the election process.
- All vote‑by‑mail ballots received before the close of voting are added to the count. Results from all voting opportunities are then reviewed and verified, with candidates and scrutineers able to observe as permitted by legislation.
- Preliminary election results are published as soon as they are available.
- Once the review is complete, the Chief Election Officer formally declares the official election results within provincially legislated timelines (before 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21, 2026).
The elected Council’s four year term begins when they take their Oath of Office at the Inaugural Council meeting in Council Chambers at 1801B Beaufort Avenue at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 2, 2026.
