Coach Houses

What is a Coach House?
The Town of Comox defines a coach house as a self-contained dwelling unit that is detached from a principal dwelling unit.

Where are Coach Houses allowed?
Coach houses are permitted primarily in Low-Density Residential zones, along with several other zones. For more details, see the Town of Comox Zoning Bylaw 2056.  Section 6.4 outlines the general provisions for Coach Houses.

Permitting Process for Coach Houses
To have a coach house approved, you must get a building permit from the Town of Comox. Visit the Get a Building Permit page for more information.
