- Set carts out for collection by 8 a.m. on your collection day - not the night before.
- After your carts have been emptied, if the collection truck has left them in a different location, please use that location the next time you put your carts out for collection, as that is the preferred location. If you have any questions about this new cart placement please call the Town Contractor, Emterra, at 250-336-8066.
Carts must not obstruct sidewalks, bike lanes or the flow of traffic.
- Truck arm has a reach of 3.5 meters (12 ft).
- Ensure there is a 3-metre (10 ft) clearance overhead to accommodate the truck arm's lift.
- Carts must be at least 1 metre (3 feet) apart from each other and from any obstacles such as parked cars, fences, trees, etc.

- Point the arrows on the cart lids towards the street with the handles towards your house.
- Ensure lids can fully close and waste is not packed too tightly in the cart.
- Carts must not obstruct sidewalks, bike lanes or the flow of traffic.

Street Collection without a Marked Bike Lane

- Place carts on the street with wheels against the curb
- For steep-sloped driveways, set carts out on the street against the curb
- Alternatively, if obstructed by parked cars, carts can be placed on the driveway if within 3.5 m (12 ft) of the roadway.
- Truck arm has a reach of 3.5 meters (12 ft).

Street Collection with a Bike Lane & with or without a Parking Lane

- In areas with no parking lane, carts should be placed behind the sidewalk
- In areas with a parking lane, carts should be placed in the parking lane for collection.
- Alternatively, if obstructed by parked cars, carts can be placed on the driveway if within 3.5m (12 ft) of the roadway; otherwise, carts can be placed in the parking lane as shown.
- Place carts on the property receiving collection in a less sloped area away from obstacles like fences and parked cars.
- Truck arm has a reach of 3.5 meters (12 ft).

Laneway Collection

- Set carts on a less sloped area within reach of the truck arm - truck arm has a reach of 3.5 meters (12 ft).
- Narrow laneways where space is limited, ensure your cart is as close to the lane as possible.
- Carts must not obstruct the flow of traffic.
Cul-de-Sac Collection

Cul-de-Sac can be challenging to collect due to limited space.
- On collection day, park vehicles inside the garage or in the driveway. Move other obstacles, such as basketball hoops and hockey nets, off the street at least one metre away from where the carts are placed.
- The Town's street and traffic bylaw requires parallel parking in cul-de-sacs.
- Truck arm has a reach of 3.5 meters (12 ft).
- Carts must not obstruct sidewalks or the flow of traffic.
Snow Event

- When shoveling snow, clear a flat spot adjacent to the end of your driveway for your carts.
- Alternatively, carts can be placed on a clear driveway if within 3.5 m (12ft) of the roadway.
- Don't place carts behind or on top of snowbanks.
- Truck arm has a reach of 3.5 meters (12 ft).
- Carts must not obstruct the flow of traffic.
- Inclement weather or poor road conditions may result in the cancellation of collection service.
