To report a conflict with wildlife that threatens public safety please call the BC Conservation Officer Services: 1-877-952-7277.
You may also wish to also make the Town aware so staff can post a notice in that area - email or phone 250-339-5410.

DEAD - Contact the Town by email or phone 250-339-5410. Note: If it is located in a "wild" forest or park that that is not mainted, then it may be left in place so nature can take its course.

DEAD - The property owner is responsible to have it removed and disposed of at the (CVWMC) Comox Valley Waste Management Centre (landfill at 3699 Bevan Road in Cumberland) - ph: 250-334-6016. This also applies to vacant properties.

- Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD), ph: 250-334-6000 however, if it is on a public road or road shoulder those areas are maintaned by the Ministry of Transportation contractor, Mainroad North Island Contracting, ph: 1-877-215-7122.

What to do if you find sick, injured, or dead wildlife - Province of British Columbia
If it is located within the Town of Comox boundary and:
- on public property, Town staff will collect it - report to Town by email or phone 250-339-5410.
- on private property, you may choose to report it for tracking purposes - see links below for information on that. If you do report it, they may give you specific disposal instructions otherwise, use gloves to handle it, bag and dispose of in your household garbage cart.
Mosquitoes can transmit West Nile virus from birds to people. Although the virus isn’t transmitted from animals to humans, avoid handling dead birds with your bare hands. If you find a dead bird with a leg band, record the letters and numbers and contact the Ministry of Environment at 1-866-431-2473.

Effective January 1, 2025
The SPCA (1668 Ryan Road East) will no longer sell dog licences or provide stray-dog kennel services for the Town of Comox.
In collaboration with other Comox Valley local governments, the Town has contracted a private kennel provider to manage dog licence sales and stray-dog intake - the public will need to deliver the dog to them:

Dog licences can also continue to be purchased at Comox Town Hall.
Yes, there is one off-leash park located at the former Comox Elementary School location (Rodello Street and Fairbairn Avenue) - for more information, visit our Pets in Parks webpage here.
In Town of Comox parks, playing fields and forests, dogs must be on leash at all times - this includes all of the North-East Woods forest located in north Comox.
