The Town of Comox is pleased to announce the addition of a new accessibility button on its website, introducing a suite of features designed to improve digital access for all residents and visitors.

Thanks to a generous grant from The Social Planning and Research Council of British Columbia (SPARC BC), the Town has implemented a range of tools aimed at supporting an inclusive online experience. These improvements are part of the Town’s broader three-year Accessibility Assessment and Action Plan, which outlines a strategic vision to build a more accessible and equitable community.

The new accessibility features now available at comox.ca include the following:

High contrast, negative contrast, grayscale, light background, underline links, highlight links, hind images, large text, readable font, dyslexia-friendly mode, increased line height and increased text spacing.

These enhancements reflect our commitment to reducing barriers and supporting our community with equitable access to online information and services,” said Nicole Minions, Comox Mayor.

The Accessibility Assessment and Action Plan, adopted in 2023, provides a framework for making meaningful improvements through a set of prioritized recommendations. Regular reviews and updates to the plan will be conducted in collaboration with the Comox Valley Accessibility Committee, the Comox Valley Social Planning Society, individuals with lived experience, and other accessibility experts to ensure the plan remains relevant and responsive to community needs.’

The Town welcomes public input and encourages residents to share their thoughts and experiences with the Accessibility Plan. Feedback can be provided by:
