Town Council is moving forward on the investigation of potential site options for a multi-use skatepark and pump track following the recommendations in a 2021 Comox Youth Recreation report.

Geotechnical survey work will determine the suitability and possibility of locations. Once this has been completed a community and user group consultation process will take place regarding the ultimate location and to ensure that no user group loses access to their activities.

“We know there is chatter in the community about the potential for a skatepark and pump track,” said the Town’s Mayor, Nicole Minions. “It is exciting to narrow down a potential site location where the conditions are suitable, and the environment is a safe but vibrant place to participate in activity.”

A well-designed multi-use skatepark can attract a range of demographics; from the toddler to the senior, those with disabilities, those in wheelchairs and bikers and skaters of all abilities. These spaces are free public spaces, where everyone can be included - people gain a sense of community and a passion for trying something new for the first time.

As more information becomes available on the geotechnical survey and possible site options, it will be posted to the Town’s website, comox.ca
