The Town of Comox has released a new mobile app for residents to assist with the easy look-up of curbside collection calendars and a "what goes where" tool to support the recycling or disposal of household items.
The new app will remind residents of their weekly collection days via their mobile device, email or voice message. The app can be found on the Town's website at comox.ca/garbageandwaste, or it can be downloaded through Apple App Store or Google Play. There are no costs associated with receiving the reminders.
"We know our community has been waiting for a feature like this since the add-a-day schedule was introduced after weekday statutory holidays," said Nicole Minions, Comox Mayor. "The app will also support us with notifications on the transition to automated curbside collection in January 2024. In addition to collection day reminders, residents will receive alerts or messages on changes or important schedule information."
Over the last couple of months, the app has softly launched to test the functionality and the mapping of addresses. Town staff acknowledges there could be missing addresses and is asking for the public's support in notifying them of any issues. Questions or concerns regarding the app can be sent by email to town@comox.ca.
Residents can still download their collection schedule on the Town's website by visiting comox.ca/garbage.
