Operation High Jump is for Friday, September 20 at the Vanier Track, Courtenay.

The Town of Comox recreation department in collaboration with the City of Courtenay will host the 29th Annual Operation High Jump at Vanier Track in Courtenay on Friday, September 20, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.

This long-standing annual event showcases the talents and sportsmanship of adults with diverse abilities in our community.

Participants travel from as far away as Powell River to take part in this just-for-fun track meet. As reported by one participant, “They have been counting down the days since last year!”

"We're excited to host this fun track meet for athletes with diverse abilities in the Comox Valley," said Justin Wolfe, Recreation Programmer. "In partnership with the City of Courtenay and the Kiwanis Club, this event offers a fantastic opportunity for participants to engage in friendly competition and build connections within the community.

The Courtenay Kiwanis Club will provide supportive, enthusiastic volunteers. Lunch will be provided by d'Esterre Senior’s Centre, Water Pure & Simple will keep participants hydrated, and St. John Ambulance will handle first aid needs.

This annual event is free for participants and registration can be completed online by visiting comox.ca/operationhighjump2024
