Heat warning ended August 17, 2023
A heat warning has been issued for East Vancouver Island (including the Comox Valley), which is expected to occur from August 13 - 17, 2023. A list of cooling services has been provided for the public to cool off and get away from the heat. For more information on the cooling services available and for ways to reduce your heat intake, visit the Comox Valley Regional District webpage.
Local cooling areas include the following:
- Comox Community Centre (1855 Noel Avenue) - 6 a.m. - 9:30 p.m. (Lobby and large meeting room from 9 a.m. - 9:30 p.m.) Monday - Wednesday Room B and Thursday Room A.
- Rotary Splash Park - (Comox Marina Park 127 Port August St.) - 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.
- Misting station - Comox Fire Rescue (1870 Noel Ave.) - during peak temperatures
- VI Library (#101, 1720 Beaufort Avenue, Comox) - Mon - Sat. hours vary.
