The Town of Comox is celebrating another successful Nautical Days Festival, which brought thousands of residents and visitors together on the August BC Day long weekend for events and activities at Comox Marina Park.
This year’s festival introduced several “firsts”, including the inaugural remote-control sailboat races, activities and performers, and an array of new entries in the parade. Festival-goers also enjoyed the support of the d’Esterre Senior Centre, which opened its doors as a cooling space during the three-day event.
Nautical Days Committee Chair, Chris Haslett, shared appreciation for the festival’s community spirit and the efforts that so many people supported.
“The Nautical Days Festival has always been about celebrating our community, and this year was no exception. We were thrilled to welcome new activities, entertainers, and some fresh energy to some long-standing traditions,” said Haslett. “It takes strong sponsorship, volunteer dedication, and community support to make this annual event possible, and we are grateful for everyone who played an important part.”
The Town extends special thanks to the sponsors whose generosity made key activities happen, including:
- Government of Canada – Canadian Heritage Funding
- Robbins and Company for the Bullhead Fishing Derby
- Central Builders Courtenay for the Build, Bail and Sail
- Quality Foods for the Festival of Lights - simulcast by 97.3 The Eagle FM
- Evolve E-Bike and Scooters
Most importantly, Comox Nautical Days' success rests on the countless hours given by dedicated volunteers. Their commitment and enthusiasm ensure that the festival continues to thrive year after year.
Planning for the 2026 Nautical Days Festival is already underway. Organizing an event of this magnitude is a year-round effort, and the committee encourages anyone interested in becoming involved—whether as a sponsor, volunteer, or supporter—to connect with the Town at nauticaldays@comox.ca .
