The Town of Comox recently installed a new electric vehicle (EV) charging station at the Comox Community Centre located at 1855 Noel Avenue.
The installation of this new charging station was part of a successful mid-island grant from the CleanBC Communities Fund. The Regional District of Nanaimo submitted the collaborative grant submission to help fill gaps in region-wide charging stations and expand zero-emission transportation operations.
With the installation of this new EV charging station, the Town oversees a total of 4 in the following locations: Town Hall, the Comox Centre Mall, Comox Fire Rescue, and now this new one at the Comox Community Centre. The EV charging station has 2 ports and is connected to ChargePoint. The current fees are $1 for the first 2 hours and then $2.00 for each additional hour.
“This supports Council’s commitment to a climate action plan by taking steps to make it easier for residents to choose zero-emission transportation,” said Comox Mayor, Nicole Minions. “These charging stations are in accessible public areas and are available on a first-come basis.”
