The Town of Comox is reminding residents to check their mailbox for their 2023 curbside collection schedule. The schedules will be delivered by Canada Post with an anticipated arrival within the next couple of weeks.
The 2023 curbside collection schedule, although in a different layout and design from last year’s schedule, still includes the “add-a-day” for statutory holidays falling on a weekday. Curbside pick-up will shift by one weekday after the statutory holiday.
Residents will notice some additional information in the guide that includes an overview of “what goes where”. The Town of Comox is currently working on the launch of app that will help residents with zone collection, pick-up days and the “add-a-day” calendar. Details of the launch will be shared on the Town’s website, through social media and other local communication channels.
“In the guide, residents will notice that only the Courtenay Return-It Depot and the Comox Valley Waste Management Centre are listed for drop-off locations for recycling,” said Jordan Wall. “The Town and the Comox Valley Regional District are working hard to support the establishment of a permanent recycling drop off centre. In the meantime, the Town is exploring a temporary can and bottle drop off location. Residents are reminded that recycling at the curbside is unlimited and provides great options for paper and containers that do not have a deposit.”
Residents will also notice an insert from the Comox Strathcona Waste Management service about the new regional composting facility. Although nothing changes for those currently on the organics curbside collection service in the Town of Comox, the program has expanded in the region and kitchen bins will be delivered to everyone receiving municipal residential curbside collection in early 2023.
