CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTIONS AND EXPENSE LIMITS
Campaign contribution and expense limits apply in local government elections. To make a campaign contribution to a candidate or elector organization, you must be a resident of B.C. and a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. Contributions from corporations, organizations and unions are prohibited. There are also limits on campaign contributions. See Election BC’s Making a Campaign Contribution page for details.
In accordance with the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act, for the 2026 General Local Election, the following limits apply for candidates:
- Mayor $19,084.85
- Councillor $9,547.87
- School Trustee $9,439.52
THIRD PARTY ADVERTISING LIMITS
In accordance with the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act, for the 2026
general local election, the following third-party advertising limits apply:
- Directed advertising expense limit (Mayor and Councillor) $954.24
- Directed advertising expense limit (School Trustee) $924.28
- Cumulative advertising expense limit (Mayor, Councillor and School Trustee)

ELECTION SIGNS
Election Signs are only permitted in the Town of Comox during the period beginning 30 days prior to the date of general voting and must be removed no later than seven (7) days following the date of general voting as outlined in the Town of Comox Sign Bylaw. Note that election signs are ONLY permitted on boulevards fronting private property.
