The Town of Comox and VI Paddling are excited to announce the annual Comox Dragon Boat Festival, taking place on Saturday, September 19, 2026. Comox Marina Park will come alive with the sights and sounds of dragon boat racing as paddlers compete against crews from across Vancouver Island and beyond.

The festival plays an important role in giving teams on northern Vancouver Island the opportunity to race closer to home. For many clubs, it also marks the final regatta of the season.

“While the racing is always competitive, the Comox Dragon Boat Festival is best known for its relaxed, welcoming atmosphere,” says Tom Arnold, President of VI Paddling. “Whether you’re racing, volunteering or watching from the shoreline, it’s a fun day that brings the paddlers and the local community together.”

“As a partner in this event, the Town of Comox is looking forward to having people gather at Comox Marina Park for this year’s event,” said Comox Mayor Nicole Minions. “The excitement of this competition, set against the stunning background of the Comox Valley, showcases what makes our community such a special place to host this large event. We’re proud to see Comox become a destination that brings people together in celebration, teamwork, and the spirit of this sport.”

Everyone is invited to come down and enjoy the action. Racing starts at approximately 9:00 a.m. and continues until 4:30 p.m. Spectators can enjoy exciting racing, local food vendors, and one of the best waterfront views on Vancouver Island. Admission is free, and everyone is welcome.
