Last year, 138 B.C. workers died from a workplace injury or disease.
When you lose a loved one, the pain never goes away.
We all have responsibilities to ensure workers and workplaces are healthy and safe.
This year's community-wide ceremony is at Lewis Park in Courtenay by the outdoor stage from 10 to 10:30 a.m. for a public ceremony, including remarks, a wreath-laying and two minutes of silence.
On Tuesday, April 28, the facility flags will be lowered to half mast, and the National Day of Mourning flag will be raised on the community pole.
