The Town of Comox Recreation Department, in partnership with the City of Courtenay, will host the 30th annual Operation High Jump on Friday, September 26, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Vanier Oval Track and Field Facility in Courtenay.
This long-standing annual event, organized in collaboration with Courtenay Recreation's adaptive programming team, brings together community members with diverse abilities for a day of running, jumping, and throwing.
The event also celebrates the dedication of day program groups and community members who have attended for more than 20 years, along with the many volunteers, staff and supporters, whose ongoing contributions ensure the continued success of this community tradition.
“We already have athletes registered from across the Comox Valley, Powell River, and School District 71,” said Robyn Smalley, Recreation Programmer. “In partnership with the City of Courtenay, this event is a wonderful opportunity to build connections and for athletes to showcase their track and field skills. A special history board will also highlight the past 30 years of Operation High Jump with photos and memorabilia—offering athletes a chance to reflect and reminisce.”
The Town of Comox extends a heartfelt thanks to the many people and organizations that make Operation High Jump possible. Special appreciation goes to lunch sponsors Thrifty Foods Crown Isle location and McDonald’s restaurant for generously providing coffee and water.
This annual event is free for participants and registration can be completed online by visiting comox.ca/operationhighjump2025. Everyone is welcome to join the celebration and cheer on participants. Those interested in getting more involved are encouraged to volunteer—please email info@comox.ca for details.
