The Town of Comox is pleased to announce the appointment of Randy Houle as the new Director of Development Services, effective October 1, 2024. Randy brings a wealth of experience in municipal planning and development, having managed several key departments throughout his career, including planning, building, bylaw enforcement, and economic development. Randy is a Registered Professional Planner with a Master of Planning from the University of Waterloo.

Randy joins the Comox leadership team with a strong commitment to fostering relationships, managing complex land use and subdivision applications, applying and overseeing several grant-funded projects related to active transportation and economic development strategies.
“We are thrilled to welcome Randy Houle to our team. He is joining the Town at an important time as we look to renew our Official Community Plan and address the housing challenges with the federal Housing Accelerator Funds that we received earlier this year,” said Jordan Wall, Chief Administrative Officer. “We look forward to his contributions to our strategic goals and the valuable relationships he will build with our community partners.”
Randy Houle shared his enthusiasm about his new role, stating, “I’m honoured to have been selected as the new Director of Development Services for the Town of Comox. I’m looking forward to the opportunity to collaborate with others, learn more about the community and how we can work together to enhance the quality of life for residents.”
As the Director of Development Services, Randy Houle will oversee key initiatives, including, the renewal of the Town’s Official Community Plan, the applications of new multi-unit housing complexes, and the day-to-day leadership of the planning and development and building inspection team.
