#RemembranceDay2023 - The first poppy goes to the Governor General, followed in rank by the provincial Lieutenant Governors and so on to local mayors. Today, the Comox Legion Branch #160 presented the first poppy in this community to Comox Mayor, Nicole Minions. From the last Friday of this month until November 11, Canadians wear a poppy to honour Canada’s veterans and remember those who sacrificed for the freedoms we have today. Every year, the Royal Canadian Legion leads the National Poppy Campaign, along with numerous volunteers, to raise funds in support of veterans and their families.

Presenting the first poppy is the President of the Branch, Gerry Maillet (to the Mayor’s left), Lynn Edey (Past President), along with Val Greenlaw (Poppy Chair) and John Paulin (Sergeant-at-Arms).
