The Town of Comox and Comox Fire Rescue are reminding residents that fireworks are restricted through the Town's bylaw.
To prevent fires and injuries, here are some other important tips that will keep Halloween activities fun and safe in our community.
- Have your front entrance or accessible "Trick or Treat" area well-lit to welcome guests.
- Instead of decorating with candles, use flashlights, glow-sticks and battery-operated candles.
- Keep fire safety at the forefront when making costumes or putting up decorations. Wear bright reflective costumes, or add strips of reflective tape so you’ll be more visible; make sure the costumes aren’t so long that you’re in danger of tripping.
For Motorists
- Watch for children walking on roadways, medians and curbs
- Enter and exit driveways and alleys carefully
- At twilight and later in the evening, watch for children in dark clothing
