The Town of Comox will begin construction of the Robb Avenue Upgrade Project in July 2026, delivering important infrastructure improvements along Robb Avenue between Anderton Road and Aitken Road.
The project, awarded to Wacor Holdings Ltd., is expected to be completed by November 2026 and will include upgrades to underground utilities, roadway infrastructure, pedestrian facilities, and streetscape features, including the planting of new trees.
"These improvements will make Robb Avenue safer, more accessible and better connected for residents now and into the future," said the Town’s Chief Administrative Officer, Jordan Wall. “We know there will be short-term inconveniences, but the long-term improvements will benefit everyone who uses this corridor.”
Project Improvements
Work will include:
- Installation of new concrete curb and gutter
- Construction of a dedicated parking lane on the north side of Robb Avenue
- Relocation of the sidewalk to the north side of the road to allow easier access to existing bus stops
- Replacement of aging underground infrastructure, including water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer mains
- Installation of communications conduit infrastructure to support future fibre optic services
- Planting of new street trees to enhance the streetscape
- Roadway improvements to better accommodate shared use by motorists and cyclists
Additional area improvements include:
- Asphalt resurfacing of Heather Court
- Replacement of a double catch basin on Thistle Court
What to Expect During Construction
Construction activities will take place between July and November 2026. Residents and businesses in the area may experience temporary disruptions, including:
- Traffic delays and lane restrictions
- Temporary changes to pedestrian access routes
- Construction noise during working hours
- Short-term interruptions to utility services as connections are completed
The contractor will work to maintain access to homes and businesses and minimize inconvenience wherever possible.
The Town of Comox appreciates the patience and cooperation of residents, businesses, and road users during construction. Updates will be shared throughout the project as work progresses.
