The first poppy is presented to the Governor General, followed by provincial Lieutenant Governors and then local mayors.

Today, Friday, October 23, Comox Legion Branch 160 presented the ceremonial first poppy to Comox Mayor Nicole Minions.

The National Poppy Campaign begins Oct. 24 and runs until November 11. Canadians wear a poppy to honour Canada’s Veterans and remember those who sacrificed for the freedoms we have today.
