Free Yard Debris Drop-Off to Support FireSmart Preparedness - April & May 2026

The Comox Valley FireSmart™ Collaborative, in partnership with Vancouver Island Enterprises, is offering another free opportunity for residents of the Comox Valley to drop off acceptable yard waste (see list below). Commercial Operators are not eligible to participate. 

  • April and May 2026
  • Daily, 8 am to 4:30 pm (weather dependent)
  • Vancouver Island Enterprises at 1200 Knight Road, Comox (adjacent to the airport - see red X on map at bottom of this page)

Accepted Materials 

Can be loose or in yard waste bags made of only paper.

  • Leaves
  • grass clippings
  • branches up to 3 inches in diameter
  • plants (not invasive species)
     
Not Accepted mATERIALS

This initiative allows residents to dispose of extra yard waste that may not fit in curbside containers, free of charge. 

"By removing dry leaves, twigs, and branches from your yard and gutters, you can help protect your home and community from wildfire damage," says Captain Brent Craven of Comox Fire Rescue.

FireSmart BC is a provincial initiative to reduce the impact of wildfires on BC homes, communities, and the environment by empowering residents, communities, and government with the tools and knowledge to create wildfire-resilient places.
