In October of 2020, K’ómoks First Nation (KFN) ratified the K’ómoks First Nation Cultural Heritage Policy (KFN CHP). The KFN CHP specifies KFN expectations for managing impacts to archaeological sites across KFN territory, so that developers can plan their projects to conform to these expectations. Avoidance of impacts to cultural heritage is always KFN’s preferred option.
Please see the KFN website for details and to determine if your development within the Town requires a Cultural Heritage Investigation Permit (CHIP). Details can be found at Lands - K'ómoks First Nation (komoks.ca) under the Cultural Heritage Policy.
Contact archpermits@komoks.ca for more information.
Note the Town of Comox is not involved in CHIP issuance.
